Accountant II

Job Summary:

This position fills a key role within Mevion’s Accounting team. The position supports various aspects of finance and accounting for the company, with a focus on Logistics, Field Service and Installation related accounting activities. Incumbent will work to complete tasks accurately and on-time as well as improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the company’s accounting systems, general internal controls and information reporting to meet company standards. Requires solid accounting experience combined with strong analytical and problem-solving skills preferably with exposure to manufacturing or distribution environments.

Job duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintains detailed deferred COGS schedules for active Installation sites and other project related expenses.
  • Review, posting and analysis of the various components of Service COGS and the capitalization of Installation costs.
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset and associated depreciation schedules; provide monthly detail to the Operations Controller for General Journal entries; ensure timely and proper recording of new purchases and disposals. Lead the migration from Excel to FinancialForce Fixed Asset Manager.
  • Prepare and publish the Monthly Cycle Count performance report. Assist in coordinating the annual Physical Inventory observation process with external auditors and Mevion installation/service sites.
  • Review and reconcile Manufacturing Work Order variances before Closing in the ERP system.
  • Post and reconcile Concur and Corporate credit card transactions.
  • Complete monthly bank account reconciliation
  • Post and reconcile foreign subsidiary results
  • Participate in the implementation of new modules and upgrade testing of the ERP system.
  • Assist with Month End Reporting and weekly KPI’s for Operations as needed.
  • Participate in the implementation of new modules and upgrade testing of the ERP system.
  • Prepare month-end expense accruals.

Education and Experience

  • BS in Accounting or Finance with 2-4 years general accounting experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment. Public accounting experience is a plus.
  • Exposure to multi-company (international), multi-location environments is preferred
  • Skilled in creating and customizing reports with ability to translate internal customer requirements into effective reports. Experience manipulating large amounts of data from multiple sources.
  • Project accounting experience preferred.
  • Must be highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets with ability to use advance functions including Vlookup and pivot tables as well as linking multiple spreadsheets.
  • Prior experience with integrated ERP packages required, Salesforce experience a plus.
  • Must have excellent work habits, including the willingness and flexibility to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially during quarter-end and year-end closing periods.
